Gary discovered multisport in the early 1980's, at the nascence of "Ironman Fever." Ticking-off every distance, having participated in numerous Ironman Events, he continued to rank among international triathletes. He is now very involved in the Portland endurance community as the GM of Trisports, an accomplished race director and an experienced coach. He recently endured and nailed the Trans Rockies Run, a 120 mile 6 day adventure, only remiss to take time away from his true life passions: his kids, grandkids, wine, stargazing, the shop and his wife, Angela.
Gary was first sought after for specific coaching in 1998, and has been leading triathletes to personal bests ever since. Educating athletes is his passion, and he ideally espouses the Steelhead Coaching philosophy of radical individualization based on realistic, but aggressive racing goals. He likes the cognitive world of data when working one on one but relies on a more personal experience with his athletes.
